I was talking to a friend about the Grand Canyon and how amazing it is that you can’t see it from ground level until you are nearly on top of it. It must’ve been an overwhelming experience for the first explorers to come upon it.
Life experiences can be like that. Sometimes, we see the event when it is still far away, like having children. Other times, events come upon us suddenly, like the loss of a job. Part of the experience is the unexpectedness of the event which can make it seem overwhelming. We can take comfort in knowing that God was preparing us for the event in ways we could only recognize in hindsight.
Nothing puts perpectus on your life like hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The views – and metaphors – are just as powerful as at the top.
