Burst into Song

I was walking around at Mt Saint John earlier this week, and saw this tree stretching for the sky. Later, I saw a stone with this bible verse on it:

You shall go out in joy, and be led back in peace; the mountains and hills before you shall burst into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12

Morning

This photo was taken during our trip to Nicaragua at the beginning of the year. One thing I have come to realize about sunrises, is that you need some clouds (but not too many) for it to really be a beautiful sight. And so it is in our lives. We needs a few “bumps in the road” or “obstacles to overcome”.

The Mind’s Eye

This photo was taken 2 years ago at the Grand Canyon. In my mind, I can see the canyon which was still (barely) visible when the photo was actually taken. It is amazing what the eye is capable of seeing. Equally amazing is what we can not see.

“What eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and what has not entered into the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

Unrelated Thoughts

Our recent snowfall made me think back to our hike at Mt Rainier in the fall. Seeing the glaciers was amazing.

I also think it’s amazing how our minds can connect two seemingly unrelated thoughts. Such as thinking about snow here and thinking about hiking in Washington. I guess that’s why each of us is able to see God in different places.

The Path

We often use “path” as a metaphor for the course or direction that our lives are following. Sometimes, the path is very easy to see, just like these stones make a clear path through the stream. Other times, the path would be nearly impossible to find without markers that have been set up by people who have gone before you.
