If you have seen many of my blog posts, you know that I love sunrises. This is another sunrise in Jamaica. But one of my favorite things about this picture is actually the two small boats barely visible at the horizon. I often think about these fishermen who head out well before sunrise. 

It makes me think of Peter and the other disciples who were fishermen. There are so many analogies in the New Testament between fishing and the kingdom of God. One of my favorites (which this picture definitely reminds me of) is when Jesus tells the disciples to “put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.”

Sometimes God calls us to go beyond our comfort zone. May we always be willing to go “into the deep.”
